Manufacturing Day 2019 Recap
Early in October, we enjoyed hosting more than 100 visitors from two schools and a veteran’s home near our office here in Luverne, MN. What was the occasion? Manufacturing Day—also known as MFG Day. MFG Day is a nationally recognized day started by the National Association of Manufacturers, with an intent of showcasing the diverse career opportunities available within the manufacturing field to students, parents, and communities.
Our visitors had an opportunity to tour our headquarters and learn more about what we do here at Midwest Fire. They toured different areas of our facility which highlighted meeting with our in-house sales team, project management team, and production floor team members. Since we manufacture apparatus on-site, guests were able to witness the different stages a truck goes through during the build. Participating in MFG Day gives the community a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look into our manufacturing processes that they may not normally have access to.
Our primary focus for this event was to educate our local community about manufacturing, and specifically how Midwest Fire plays a role in the manufacturing industry. If you’re not involvedin the industry, it’s likely you may not realize all the details and steps that go into the process of manufacturing an apparatus for a customer. MFG Day is a great way to spotlight and showcase the work we do here at Midwest Fire by opening our doors to those in our area that pass by us each day, but don’t know what we’re all about. We hope that by educating the community on what we do, it will spark an interest in the manufacturing industry and potentially lead people to pursue a career in the field. Manufacturing has many facets—from sales, to management, to engineering, to production and everything in between—and the whole goal of our MFG Day festivities is to open up the world of possibility in manufacturing to the young people in our area.
