Midwest Fire Named Winner in 50 Best Places to Work 2026 Contest
For the ninth time in recent years, and four years straight, Midwest Fire was named one of fifty winners in Prairie Business Magazine’s (Prairie Business) “50 Best Places to Work 2026” contest. Prairie Business holds this competition each year to reward and highlight the region’s best places to work, based solely on employee appeal and nomination.
“We are honored to be named among so many highly esteemed businesses in Minnesota,” said Midwest Fire’s CEO Sarah Atchison. “We believe that taking excellent care of our employees has a trickle-down effect to our customers. Each one receives consistent, exceptional service from our personnel. Our team in Luverne has been instrumental in helping us succeedas a small business in an industry dominated by large conglomerates.”
Midwest Fire also received this recognition in 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. The award recognizes employee-nominated companies for exceptional benefits, work culture, general employee happiness and various other pull-factors that retain employees. The winners will be featured in the September issue of the magazine.
Employees throughout the region nominated their companies, highlighting some of the reasons they believe make their place of business a great place to work. Among the topics were workplace culture, opportunities for employee growth, teamwork and individual responsibility, and employee morale, among others. In all, Prairie Business received 1,377 nominations.
“We enjoy seeing so many participants in the annual contest,” said Prairie Business Editor Carrie McDermott. “It is great to see the many companies that have been here before, but also to see new names on the list. This goes to show that there are some outstanding companies in our region.”
